Fyre Fraud week 10

tell me how the Fyre Festival fiasco changed the way companies approach social media and influencer marketing

When it comes to the Frye Festival and the promotion that they did, you can look at it in multiple ways.  Its unbelievable the outcome that this festival had to be honest, and the way the creator handled it could be called genius or completely insane.  In my personal opinion, it is completely insane.  Just watching him speak about all the things he was doing not even including the festival, he generously believes he was not doing anything wrong.

When you really take this whole documentary in and process the shit show you just watch, it's almost like some of these people that had their hands in this lived on another planet.  Just being able to sleep at night knowing that they were taking advantage of a lot of these people with false advertising and promises.  Just like was said in the Documentary, it was a "Rich people problems" and I have to agree with that as well.  The way this festival was marketed in that aspect was almost brilliant.  They used what they knew about the generation and financial stature of these "Influencers" and "rich kids" knowing that if they used the FOMO tactic they would sell a ridiculous amount of tickets.

Breaking the mold of the standard advertising for Instagram was most likely how this got as big as it did.  If they wouldn't have gone with the tactic of using a bright orange square and making people stop and try and figure out what this meant, it wouldn't have had near as much traffic at the start. Then it continued to build even further when you have these larger influencers and celebrities like Kendall Jenner share this orange square with little to know the information. All your doing in that situation is adding to the mystery.

The way this festival handled their marketing thru influencers and celebrities changed the way things are done to this day. Lots of companies now have raised the budgets they have to pay these people for sharing and promoting said company, and the way they handle that promoting has become a lot more sophisticated. This has also added a lot more rules when it comes to using an influencer for promotion. Companies are wanting more transparency and authenticity just so something like this festival doesn't happen with there brand.

The main thing this did for marketing is it almost forcefully matured it and made it where people know the absolute worst that could happen and we don't want that happen to us. Someone had to get to that point so that we could find out as a whole what and what not to do when it comes to marketing for our own companies.
In conclusion, not all bad came out of this complete nightmare of a situation. If anything this molded people in the marketing business and influencers to know how a situation needs to be treated, and what steps need to be taken to do so.
